First full week of January 2010

My week in review

Well it was the first week back at work after the Christmas break. Break actually also sums up what everything did on our return to work.

The air-conditioner continued to not want to work, which is great when the humidity is 98% and 32C. The back door still did not want to let people in, so it spent the week wedged opened, providing exceptional security for the people in the office. Then of course there were the various pieces of equipment that mentally remained on holiday, meaning they no longer wanted to work.

I also started back with our little personal training group, were my level of fitness seemed to be almost like if I had not spent the past 5 months running around like a lunatic, lifting heavy things, stretching and making bits of myself ache that I did not know existed. If is amazing how unfit one can become if they retire to the couch for two weeks eating various Christmas foods.

On a brighter note it has rained for almost an entire day. It is lovely, I love, love, love rain. The kitty cats went a little bit mad when the wind picked up.

The house buying process remains in limbo until all the important parties like our solicitor and an engineering firm return to work.

Hot Christmas

Christmas is always so hot and not in the nice way.

I am happy that we managed to have Christmas dinner at a reasonable dinner time, we ate at 6.30pm.

Christmas Dinner
  • Vegetarian roast with a mint glaze and roasted garlic infused sweet potatoes and pumpkin
  • Potatoes, french shallots, garlic cloves roasted with a lemon zest and sage
  • Parsnips, and carrots roasted in vino cotto
  • Brussel sprouts and broccoli in a blue cheese cause with a lemon crumb topping bake
  • Vegetarian sage sausage, cranberry and macadamia stuffing balls
  • Zucchini and mushrooms in butter sauce
  • Yorkshire puddings
  • Gravy

Say What?

Today was interesting when the person we are trying to buy our first home from decided to take the house off the market.

Interesting in that

  1. They are under contract with us
  2. The real estate rang to tell me this news?
  3. They are under contract with us

Went and saw our solicitor and now we are in a brand new holding pattern until next January. House buying is stressful.

Grumpy Cow

I have a nightie that sums up my mood at the moment, “grumpy cow”. The last few days I seem to be in a perpetual moody mood, not helped by the trials and tribulations of work and the ongoing dry weather.

Today I was late to training due to a work delay (who calls at 5.30am wanting to print!) and was made to do laps while the other climbed the grandstand (glad I missed out on that). From today’s training session I now the owner of a couple of grazed knuckles from boxing, I think I let a bit too much of my aggression out.

So, as this is post number two I still need to acquire a purpose to what I am going to put up here. Stayed tuned for a purpose.
